Midland Borderfest 2021 a virtual success

Cartoon drawing by Denise Sheldon of Border Terrier sat in front of a tent beside a burning camp fire with sausages cooking over it

With the ongoing pandemic causing the lack of an in person event again this year, Anne Speake and her Midlands Borderfest team have worked extremely hard to make their online events an amazing success, while raising an incredible total for Border Terrier Welfare.

Fundraising success

The Midlands Borderfest raffle was opened in March with over 50 donations of Border Terrier and dog related items, (take a look at our blog for pictures)  and raised an incredible £3,270.

Their Virtual Dog Show had over 27 classes, so there was certainly something for everyone!  With over 900 entries, it raised a further £1,180, bringing the overall total for this year's Midlands Borderfest to £4,450.

Posting in their Facebook group, Anne Speake paid tribute to everyone involved, "My grateful thanks as always to Julie Cully for dealing with the Paypal account and doing the on line tickets, to Jane Axon for doing her diary raffle, to all our sponsors who donate such wonderful prizes for our online raffle and also this year for our online dog show.  But a great big thank you to everyone who has bought tickets or taken part in the Virtual Dog Show, or sent donations, you're all wonderful and we couldn't do it without you."

Check out the winners in their Virtual Dog Show photo albums on Facebook for some amazing photos.  We may be biased, but the Best Rescue winner, Ceri with owner Anne Barlow, just melted our hearts!

A huge BTW thank you

Chairman, Tony Wrenn says, "Our most grateful thanks to Anne and Julie as well as to Jane Axon for all of their hard work in making these events such a huge success.  Special thanks also go to everyone who donated the amazing prizes, without your generosity the Raffle wouldn’t be the success that it is, and last but by no means least to everyone who entered the Virtual Dog Show or purchased Raffle Tickets or just donated their time or their money.  Between you all, Midlands Borderfest has raised an amazing £4,450 for Border Terrier Welfare and your support is, as always, greatly appreciated by us all in Border Terrier Welfare - well done everyone!"
