Statement regarding the death of Her Majesty The Queen

At Border Terrier Welfare, we are deeply saddened to hear about the death of Her Majesty the Queen. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family and everyone who mourns her loss. Her Majesty’s life of service along with her unwavering support of charities and volunteering is an inspiration, leaving an enduring legacy.

You may have seen that we have our own BTW Jubilee this year, celebrating 40 years, including an event on 18 September 2022.  After consideration, it has been decided to proceed with our event as planned, as we acknowledge the commitment and dedication of all those who have supported Border Terrier Welfare over the years.

Our programme will now include a tribute to Her Majesty, probably the nation’s best known dog lover, and a fitting celebration of a life lived in service and duty.

A period of mourning

Whilst we respect the period of national mourning that has been declared, as a charity supporting animals we will continue to operate during this period.

Border Terriers will continue to need our help during this time, so all our services in support of them will continue as normal.

Support for our fundraising hero, Hollie has continued, as her 3 Peaks Challenge began with them leaving for Scotland on Thursday morning before the sad news broke at the end of that day.  We believed it was important to continue to support Hollie's endeavour at this time, given her commitment to fundraising for us.

After careful consideration by our committee of Trustees, we have decided our BTW Jubilee event planned for 18 September will continue as a celebration of our fortieth anniversary and in recognition of the dedication of those who have supported our organisation through the years.

Her Majesty's recognition of ordinary people doing extraordinary things
is an example to which we can only aspire.
