Update on Roxy

A little update for those of you who have been following the story of Roxie.  You will remember that Roxie came to us needing to be re-homed because sadly, due to a drastic change of circumstance her owner was no longer able to keep her.  To add to Roxie’s problems she was, at less than five years old almost totally blind.

We are very happy to tell you that a lot has been going on in Roxie’s life over the last few weeks and all for the better.

Firstly thanks to a lot of hard work from Devon Rep, Sally Hearnden, a new home was found for her and after allowing a little time to settle in she has now had an operation to remove the cataracts from her eyes. Early indications are that the procedure has been successful and Roxy is now able to see her new family as well as her very comfortable new home. A return visit to see the specialist is planned for next week and a some further work may be required to remove a little scar tissue if the post operative medication hasn’t done the job already.

On behalf of BTW, I would like to thank all those of you who donated towards Roxie’s treatment; your very generous contributions of just over £1400, approximately half of the total cost currently running at around £2800,  has been been a tremendous help.  Our thanks also to the new owners for taking on Roxie at a very difficult time in her life and for seeing her through this ordeal.

We would also like to thank everyone at Rowe Referrals Eye Clinic for the wonderful work that they have done and for the superb care that they have given to Roxie.
