Essex Border Walk 11

Great news from the Essex Border Terrier Owners Group.  The eleventh Essex Border Walk took place on Sunday when 123 humans and 72 dogs, of which 66 were Border Terriers, met up at the Wat Tyler Country Park.

The weather was fine and despite a little local traffic delay, due to an issue at the nearby recycling unit, we were able to set off with only a short delay. It was good to see so many friends and to make some new ones and on behalf of Border Terrier Welfare I would like to thank you all for coming along and showing your support for our charity.

Reports show that so far £821.24 has been raised with money still coming in via the EveryClick donations page, a fantastic result and very much appreciated by us all. After the walk we were able to enjoy a fine selection of cakes, many of them home made and all delicious, together with tea, coffee and soft drinks as well as a very impressive and well supported raffle which raised £277 as well as an opportunity for a bit of a chat. As always a thoroughly enjoyable event.

Our special thanks go to the organisers and the helpers and volunteers for all of the work that they do for us and they were John Lawrence Host and MC, Martin Slater on Raffle Selling Duty, Mark Avis on Walk Registration, Kim Bentley on Raffle prize sorting, Ann Lawrence and Mary Walsh on Hot and Cold Drinks and Cake Serving and Last but not least John Jessop and Kevin Hood on Walk Photography.

A big THANK YOU & WELL DONE to you all.
Tony Wrenn
