Virtual Border Terrier Show #BTShow

Our Virtual Border Terrier Show was run as part of our #BT100 Weekend – Celebrating 100 years of recognition of the Border Terrier in the UK by The Kennel Club.

PUBLIC VOTING IS NOW CLOSED

Our BTW Committee judges have deliberated long and hard, argued into the night and finally whittled down all our lovely entries into the shortlisted finalists!  It was a tricky task and required careful consideration.

With around 180 entries in our Virtual Border Terrier Show #BTShow, we were bowled over by the amazing Border Terriers you entered, along with the Border Terrier artwork submitted.

Everyone thinks their Border is Best and quite honestly none of you are wrong! So if you didn't make the shortlisted finalists, it doesn't mean your girl isn't a star in her own right or your boy is a legend in his own lifetime!

We confirm that the entries were anonymised prior to shortlisting, so the judging was carried out 'blind'.

Public voting closed 4pm (BST) Sunday 17 May 2020

We are now collating the results and will publish them soon.

Entry Details & Terms

What classes can I enter?

Prettiest Border Terrier Bitch – photo entry
Has your girl got what it takes to be crowned the most gorgeous with a sparky character to match?  If you can you capture that in an image then enter this class to let your girl shine.  Open to any age female Border Terrier.

Most Handsome Border Terrier Dog – photo entry
Does your boy have attitude in spades paired with handsome good looks?  If so, capture their best pose to enter this class for him to be crowned top dog.  Open to any age male Border Terrier.

Best Border Terrier Rescue – photo entry
Possibly our favourite class (we may be a little biased!), this is the moment for your Border rescue to shine!  Open to male or female Border Terriers of any age, but they must be a rescue, although this can be from other organisations, not just BTW.  Let your rescue star stand out in your best image of them to enter this class.

Waggiest Border Terrier Tail – video entry
Is it windmill action, or a side swipe to be proud of?  Whatever the waggy tail action, make sure you capture it at the waggiest in a video entry for this class.  Open to male or female Border Terriers of any age.

Best Border Terrier Trick at Home – video entry
We know you have some amazing Border Terrier talent out there!  Make sure you capture it so you can share their genius in an entry for this class.  Open to male or female Border Terriers of any age.

Border Terrier in Art – photo or scanned image of artwork entry
Artwork must feature a Border Terrier and may be created using any media (including, but not limited to: crayons, pencil, pen, pastels, watercolour, acrylic, oil, digital media or fibre art) but the entry must be uploaded as a photo or scanned image of the final artwork.  We are also happy to accept entries from our Border Terrier Welfare Colouring Book.  Artist age categories:

  • under 4 years old
  • 4 to 7 years old
  • 8 to 11 years old
  • 12 to 16 years old
  • 17 years and over, non-commercial*
  • 17 years and over, commercial*

How much does entry cost?

Entry to the Virtual Border Terrier Show is free.

However if you are able to, please donate what you can in support of our #BT100 Celebration of 100 years of the Border Terrier weekend event, although this is not a requirement for entry.

How do I enter?

Please select the class or classes you wish to enter and submit your entry for each class on the google form below, uploading your image or video file for the entry (depending on the class – please see list above).

Video entries must be no longer than 1 minute.  Videos longer than this will automatically be disqualified.

Entries must be received by 10pm Friday 8 May 2020.

Is it only UK entries?

Whilst BTW operate in the UK, as this is a Virtual Border Terrier Show, we welcome entries from around the world, as we know we have supporters of our work far and wide.

How will the show be judged?

This is a fun dog show and will not be judged to the Border Terrier breed standard.

All Border Terriers are welcome, whether pedigree or crossbreed, especially those who have been rescued or re-homed and Border Terriers must be the focus of the image.

The Border Terriers in the images or video can be in any position; sitting, standing, lying down or however they are comfortable!

The entries will be shortlisted by the BTW Committee.

The shortlisted finalists will be notified by BTW via social media where possible.  Unsuccessful entries will not be notified.

The shortlisted finalists will then be released on our facebook and twitter social media platforms for the public vote on Friday 15 May.

Public voting will be by liking the image or video in the post for each class.  Posts can be shared or retweeted, but this will not form part of the vote.

Public voting will close at midday on Sunday 17 May, any likes after this time will be discounted.

The winners will be announced later on Sunday 17 May and will be published on the BTW website and social media.

Any entries received after 10pm Friday 8 May 2020 or submitted in the incorrect class will be disqualified.

Terms

We need quality video and pictures, either landscape or portrait, which must be clear and in focus, but no professional photography please, unless you hold the copyright to the image.

There is no lower or upper age limit for Border Terriers entered into a class.

You may enter more than one class, as long as you meet the criteria of each class.

*The artwork entries will be separated into age categories of the artist.  For the 17 years and over category, we have divided this into commercial and non-commercial.  We are also happy to accept entries from our Border Terrier Welfare Colouring Book.

There should be no identifying features which will geolocate the Border Terrier to a specific home address.

There should be nothing to identify individual Border Terriers by name in the image, as the classes will be judged anonymously.

Entry into the Show gives BTW permission to use the image/video on social media, the BTW website or other media in support of BTW.

A Border Terrier may only be entered once in each class (duplicate entries will be disqualified), however they may be entered in more than one class.

Each entry should be for a single Border Terrier, joint entries will be disqualified.

Prizes are not transferable and have no redeemable value.

BTW Committee members and their household are excluded from entering the Show, as they will be involved in judging.  BTW Reps are free to enter as they are not part of the judging team.

The Virtual Border Terrier Show is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Twitter or any of the brands associated with this Show.

Facebook and Twitter are not responsible for any issues related to the Show — accepting the terms indicates a complete release of Facebook and Twitter by each participant.
