Border Terrier Welfare Help

Request help

If you need to help a Border Terrier please first contact your closest BTW Rep from the contacts list.

If your need is really urgent and your local rep is not available, then please contact our Chairman.

With the wealth of knowledge about the breed and first hand experience as many of our Reps and Committee are owners and breeders themselves, BTW are able to offer assistance and signposting to specialist help on a range of issues.

This may mean that dogs that are thought to need re-homing are able to stay in their own home where possible.

If this is not possible, our team can provide support and assistance through the re-homing process, to ensure a smooth handover that is least stressful for the dog.

Re-homing

If you have a Border Terrier that you are needing to be re-homed, or that you are considering re-homing then as above please contact your closest BTW Rep in the first instance.

We don't host a directory of Border Terriers for re-homing on our website, as we don't generally keep dogs.  We usually match Border Terriers coming into BTW to our waiting list of adoptees.  So at the time they are handed over to us, once checked over, they are then taken directly to their new home, as this is the least stress for the dog.

Where dogs are not able to go direct to their new home, they may stay with our network of foster carers whilst they have issues resolved or receive veterinary treatment.

Apply to adopt

If you are able to help a Border Terrier by offering a new home, we invite you to complete our adoption application. Please download the form below to complete and return to your local BTW Rep by email.

Download our adoption application form below:

Once we receive your application, we will review it and be in touch.  As part of the adoption process we will carry out a home assessment before we match to you to a Border Terrier.

Please understand that all of our Officers, Committee and Representatives are volunteers and have busy lives.  If you are unable to make contact immediately please do leave them a message.  We will respond within 48 hours.

Fundraising

As a registered charity, we are wholly dependent on the donations, gifts and fundraising activities by ourselves and others.  We are grateful for amounts raised no matter now large or small, we recognise small donations all add up to larger ones, and together they enable us to do what we do through the generosity of those, like you, who give to Border Terrier Welfare.

There are a variety of ways you can help a Border Terrier in need

. . . and some don't even cost you a penny!

Voluntary giving

There are a several ways you can give voluntarily to Border Terrier Welfare, including:

  • Gifts & legacies
  • One off donations eg PayPal
  • Regular donations eg PayPal
  • Birthday & In memoriam collections

Fundraising events

Such as marathons & other sporting events, personal challenges or even a sponsored walk (only limited by your imagination).  You can use platforms such as:

    Give as you shop

The best thing about this one is that it doesn't cost you anything extra!  The platforms below collect donations from retailers as you shop online, once you are registered.

You can also now help BTW with your online shopping

    BTW Webstore

We have our own webstore right here on this site, where you can purchase your BTW goods.  With a range of products you're sure to find something for any Border Terrier fan!  Our Virtual Stall range can also be found on our Webstore, which are items from those who own, or are passionate about, Border Terriers; be they authors, artists, makers or others, to sell to help our fundraising.

    BTW Merchants

We are fortunate to have a number of talented and creative people within the Border Terrier community and beyond, who generously donate some of their profits from selling goods through their own stores.

An eclectic mix of items for you, your home and of course your Border Terrier, there is a host of options for gifts or to treat yourself!

    BT Community

We have several unofficial groups who are avid supporters of Border Terrier Welfare, with a variety
of interesting and varied fundraising activities; some of which are regular events,
some are challenges only restricted by the imagination of the participants.

Note: none of these groups are in any way affiliated to Border Terrier Welfare.

    #BTPosse on Twitter

Sir Clapton Terrier does the admin, receiving regular applications to join - the only criteria being the twitter account must be for the BT.  Also on facebook.

Huge supporters of BTW in fundraising activities, especially the amazing Paul Duce and Dame Jess Border who have raised many thousands of pounds with their challenges over the years (check out our Fundraising blog category and you'll see their entries pop up!).
