More Border Tales book edited by Bill Gillott & Melanie Lewis
A collection of articles from the Southern Border Terrier Club's Yearbooks, celebrating their 75th anniversary in 2005. The articles include history, recollections and informative pieces on all aspects of Border Terriers; from working terriers, showing and breeding, to owning Border Terriers as pets.
From the forward:
For some years a sequel had been discussed to the now much sought after "Border Tales" compiled by Miss Hester Garnett-Orme, covering years 1947 - 1965 of the Southern Border Terrier Club's yearbooks. With the 75th Anniversary of the Southern Border Terrier Club approaching in 2005, what better way to celebrate this anniversary year than to compile this sequel, thereby recording and preserving a permanent record of Border Terriers and their many versitile and varied activities.
As compilers of this book, at times we were somewhat daunted by the size of the task but, nonetheless, we are both honoured and privileged to be involved in publishing "More Border Tales", the contents of which remain copyright of South Border Terrier Club, and are articles which have been extracted from the Club Yearbooks covering the period 1966-2000, concluding with an account of Border Terrier 2000, the millenium event, a fitting end to one century and the beginning of another.
Reading through the articles in the Yearbooks was an education and a real pleasure. Thank you to all of the contributors whose efforts are reproduced here and the different magazines for their permission to use the original articles.
Finally Southern Border Terrier Club would like to dedicate this book to the memory of Mr R A (Bob) Williams (Eignwye) who gave freely of his time to the Club for over half a century.
