Introducing our cover star . . . Mossy
Our lovely cover star this year is Mossy, a three year old Border girl from the US. We have many supporters from beyond our UK shores, for which we are hugely grateful to all those across the globe who support our work in the UK, through donations or purchases from our webstore and more. In recognition of this, we chose this beautiful image of Mossy which we think shows the true adventurous nature of the Border Terrier. The laser focus on whatever captures their attention . . . which is often not their owner!
Mossy lives in the Pacific Northwest, with Radka, who describes herself as Mossy's mom, servant and secretary for her social media accounts. Mossy can be found on Instagram and Twitter, where she has a lot to say for herself. "Mossy has a huge character and containing her to one paragraph would be a challenge! She is definitely the boss in our house, life revolves around her - we are just her servants, and as she often lets us know . . . not very good ones!" Many of us can relate to that I'm sure!
Radka continues, "Mossy is a very athletic and active girl, she loves agility, trail running, hiking, skiing and especially hunting in any form! She just loves people too and we've been working on adopting Free Will teaching methods, which has improved our relationship enormously, communicating better and learning to understand her better as she is very clear in what she wants". It obviously is paying off as Mossy has won many ribbons in barn hunt trials.
Radka herself works in psychology, so using this training approach has enabled her to communicate with Mossy better and understand her. Originating from the Czech Republic but now residing in the US, Radka, along with husband Chris travel extensively and Mossy goes on all their trips with them, even spending 3 months in Italy.
Radka is also a keen photographer, using a Nikon D780, although these images were taken before she upgraded, using her D600, with an 85mm portrait lens. Add in a 16-35 mm wide angle lens and a 70-300 mm zoom lens, this gives Radka the freedom to shoot pretty much anything for their travel journals. We hope you'll agree, that we've certainly benefitted from this passion with a lovely cover image for our Calendar.
We have it on good authority that Mossy models for liver treats, although we think now she is a Cover Star, she should be increasing her fees!

With at least one picture included from every person who has submitted photos, the Calendar is full of your lovely Borders at work, rest or play . . . and even getting up to a little mischief! We also have a feature image star for each month, along with loads of images of your lovely Borders, so if you've submitted photos, don't forget to look out for yours!
And if you missed out on submitting this year, or you are already planning your pics for next year, don't forget we need a mixture portrait and landscape images of all seasons in the best quality you can. If you think your Border has what it takes to be our next Cover Star, then make sure your image is landscape and at least 5MB.
Mossy gets her own Notecard
We have also increased our popular notecard range to include Mossy notecards, along with Mossy and Pickle (our 2022 Cover star) mixed packs.
