Update following the death of Her Majesty the Queen
Border Terrier Welfare released a statement following the sad news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, which you can read in our blog here.
After careful consideration by our committee of Trustees, it has been decided to proceed with our event, as we acknowledge the commitment and dedication of all those who have supported Border Terrier Welfare over the last forty years.
Our afternoon programme will now include a tribute to Her Majesty, probably the nation’s best known dog lover, and a fitting celebration of a life lived in service and duty.
Refund Policy:
Should anyone who has already purchased tickets now feel that they are unable to attend, we will provide a full refund at the ticket price. To claim your refund, please click here to email our Digital Trustee, Paula Byers, providing your surname and order number to assist us with processing your refund by Friday 16 September 2022.
What, when and where?
We are so excited to be back with our first in person event since the start of the pandemic and we have much to celebrate. Our BTW Jubilee event is a nod to the celebration of 100 years breed recognition of the Border Terrier by The Kennel Club UK and our very own Border Terrier Welfare 40 year anniversary. But really, we can't wait to see you all in person, as we've missed you!
Our BTW Jubilee event is a whole day of fun with your Border Terriers and we hope you'll join us on Sunday 18 September 2022.
We have a full itinerary to keep both two legged and four-legged visitors entertained all day, so you can bring the whole family! With a range of ticket options, you can join us for part of the day, but we really hope you'll come to enjoy it all.
11am for 11.30am start - BTW Jubilee Walk at Headley Heath
We're pleased to add this walk into our program, not least as we welcome Matt Joy (of @ClaptonTerrier fame!) to lead the walk. Matt, a Border Terrier owner himself, started the BTPosse as a community of tweeting Border Terriers - now with over 1,300 members worldwide, which has supported BTW for over 10 years, raising many tens of thousands of pounds. Matt leads annual #BTSurreyPicnic BTPosse tweetup walks at Headley Heath and knows it well, so is well placed to lead us on a walk to enjoy this beautiful heathland.
Walk details will be provided by email nearer the time to ticket holders, once tickets are purchased. This is a lead only walk (as there are free roaming livestock on the heath) but a chance for both humans and Border Terriers to stretch their legs, while swapping tales of Borders both past and present! A great way to start the day and for your BTs to run off some energy.
12.30pm - Walkers make their way to Woodmansterne Village Hall
1pm - BTW Jubilee at Woodmansterne Village Hall, Surrey
Our event continues for the afternoon at the village hall (see Google Maps for location), where we have lots of opportunities for you to get involved, catch up with old friends and make new ones who all have Border Terriers in common! (Times may be subject to change).
1.30pm - Buffet lunch
We're starting with a lovely buffet lunch to feed the hungry walkers and those who have travelled from afar to join us, so you have chance to catch your breath and enjoy good conversation while you refuel.
2.30pm - Celebrity Border Terrier chat
We hope to have a Border Terrier owning special guest joining us for the afternoon. No clues as to who it is yet, but you can rest assured they love Border Terriers as much as we do, so we'll be finding out more about them in this session.
3.20pm - Presentation
We have a special long service presentation to make to our outgoing President, Diana O'Grady to commemorate her amazing 40 years dedication to Border Terrier Welfare. We'll also draw the raffle of your attendance ticket numbers to win a food hamper.
3.30pm - Fun Dog Show
We have a fun dog show for all your Border Terriers to get involved, as we're sure they'll be ready for a bit more action by now! With our five classes, there's one for everyone:
- Prettiest girl
- Handsome boy
- Best BTW rescue
- Best trick/obedience
- Best veteran (7+)
We'll also be asking our Celebrity to judge the classes . . . so no pressure!
4.15pm - Tea & Cake
We'll be cutting our special BTW Jubilee celebration cake . . . because there's always time for cake and it's a great time for a final catch up with friends old and new to end the day. The Tombola will have been drawn, so this will also be a good time to check your ticket numbers against the prizes, so make sure you aren't too distracted by the cake!

Fundraising stall & Tombola draw
We'll have our fundraising stall will also be back for our BTW Jubilee, where you'll see products from our webstore and more. It's an ideal opportunity to get your Christmas shopping started for the Border Terrier fans in your life (yes, we went there with the C word already!), knowing you're supporting BTW with funds raised.
We will also be drawing a Tombola lucky dip draw for our BTW Jubilee event, so while you're purchasing your event tickets, why not add some Tombola tickets too? You don't have to be coming to our event as any prizes won by those not attending will be posted out after the day.
We've got lots of prizes including vouchers from Morrisons, Pets at Home, food and drink, Border Terrier artwork and much more, so add a Tombola ticket or few to be in it to win it. Check out our blog to see some of the Tombola draw prizes available here.

Yep, our photo dog show is back to bring all the fun of our BTW Jubilee to you wherever you are, so make sure you take a look and join the fun! There's special BTW Jubilee rosettes and prizes to be won and we just know you have photo apps full of your Border Terrier pics, so why not put them to good use, or if you haven't got the perfect snap, you've still got time to start those modelling sessions . . . just don't forget the modelling fees of tasty treats for your Borders!
