Cathy will be walking the Coast to Coast Trail in May with mini Ru.

"On May 24th I will start walking from St Bees which is on the Irish Sea to Robin Hood's Bay on the North Sea, a distance of around 192 miles depending on any diversions. Alfred Wainwright first described the Coast to Coast walk in 1973 and it will soon become a National Trail. It will take me over the great heights of the Lake District, through the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors. Some of the most beautiful but challenging national parks and completely away from the hustle and bustle.

I will be walking it in memory of my beautiful border terrier Ruby who we lost in October last year. When I first decided I wanted to do this walk about 10 years ago, Ruby was supposed to do it with me. Now Mini Ru will travel in my rucksack and represent my best girl.

My daughter, Amy will be supporting me by driving between the campsites with all of the heavy gear, leaving me to carry just the day pack.

I want to support Border Terrier Welfare as we all know our little dogs will be safe if we can no longer keep them and those who are found straying will be given the best care before finding new homes."
